Welcome to Fall Semester 2008!  OP is gearing up for a semester full of adventure.  You came to ASU for the mountains, rivers and rock, so don't stay on your couch.  Get outside and enjoy what makes us one of the best outdoor schools in the nation.  OP has trips scheduled almost every weekend with extended expeditions over Fall and Spring Breaks.  We are getting ready to announce the destinations of our Student Outdoor Learning Expeditions (SOLE trips) for summer 2009.  In the past we have traveled to New Zealand, Fiji, Wales and Alaska.  Checkout our website for everything OP offers and stop by our base camp in the Student Recreation Center to sign up for trips, clinics, workshops and expeditions.

This summer, we had 18 students who traveled to New Zealand with Outdoor Programs. It was an amazing trip that included a videographer. Check out the 3 short videos below from this expedition, which was ASU's first carbon-neutral International Program. We also had 15 students travel to  Wales where they engaged in many rewarding service opportunities.  In addition, over 100 incoming ASU students joined us closer to home on First Ascent, ASU's own Wilderness Orientation Program backpacking in amazing Pisgah National Forest, abundant with outstanding trails, waterfalls, and swimming holes. This is the pulse of Outdoor Programs.

The following videos give an insider view at ASU's first carbon neutral International Expedition.

The second video from the New Zealand expedition, filmed on location.

Video number three from the New Zealand expedition, also filmed on location.

Outdoor Programs

Dedicated to Human Powered Outdoor Adventure Since 1973

At Outdoor Programs, we love adventure! We crave the challenges that come from engaging with the natural world. We value the gains that come from a life lived in awe - and greater understanding - of wild places. Outdoor Programs has offered ASU Students, Faculty and Staff a chance to get outside and seek challenge and adventure for nearly 35 years. We are NOT a club and there is NO membership required. Expeditions, trips, clinics, workshops and trainings are happening many evenings and almost every weekend making OP your adventure resource at ASU. From 3 hour team building experiences to 55 day international expeditions, state of the art indoor climbing center to rental gear, OP has something for everyone.

As summer 2008 comes to a close, we anticipate an outstanding fall semester and are beginning to look ahead to 2009. Join us on a workshop, training, trip, expedition, or just drop by the Student Recreation Center to find out more about us.
